Published May 23, 2019
It couldn’t be worse timing for a food recall. Most people fire up the grill and cook up food for a crowd on Memorial Day. Now due to a massive beef recall, the good times could be ruined.
According to the U.S. Department Of Agriculture’ Food Safety and Inspection Service, there is a recall for over 62,000 pounds of raw beef. There are serious concerns about E. coli. They first discovered the tainted meat during a random sampling test done by the USDA.
Not only should you check the meat in your fridge, but also the meat in your freezer as you could have some stocked away that’s contaminated. Here’s what you need to look for on the label:
1. Packaged by the Aurora Packing Company in North Aurora, Illinois on April 19th, 2019 but it was sent to stores nationwide
2. The USDA says you will see the number “EST. 788” in the USDA mark of inspection
3. 40 different types of meat are part of the recall most of which are cuts of steak like ribeye, brisket, ribs, etc
As always, you can head over to the USDA’s website for a full list and more information.
